This research project reflects on the question of leadership in democratic organizations. Among the objectives, the project seeks to launch a reflection on the role of leaders or leadership in the management of organizations self-defined as democratic. The results of this project will, more generally, position itself within theoretical debates related to the governance of democratic organizations. From a practical perspective, the project will attempt to highlight effective conflict management practices and tools within democratic organizations.
A panel on the following question: “Does democratic management hate leaders?” was presented at the annual CRITS conference on May 30, 2019. A reading circle has already emerged during the 2019 winter session and other research activities will follow (conferences, etc.) next fall. The writing of a book around the issue is also projected to take place over the summer of 2019.
