Venez découvrir l’histoire méconnue et le riche patrimoine de la rue Main, notamment le portail de la place Brantwood, un des premiers quartiers de banlieue ayant un plan d’aménagement, l’ancien Scolasticat Saint-Joseph, l’Université Saint-Paul, l’ancien Collège St. Patrick, et la maison de ferme Bower. Le guide fera aussi référence à la présence francophone du quartier.
Nous nous rencontrerons à Université Saint-Paul, 223, rue Main (entrée principale du pavillon Guiges en face du Green Door), près des escaliers.
Cette visite guidée est organisée conjointement par La Promenade de Jane Ottawa-Gatineau et l’École d’innovation sociale Élisabeth-Bruyère de l’Université Saint-Paul. Après la visite guidée, un goûter sera servi à l’Atelier d’innovation sociale Mauril-Bélanger, situé à l’intérieur de l’Université Saint-Paul. L’espace de travail collaboratif est accessible en fauteuil roulant via la rue Clegg, et nous pourrons continuer à échanger dans un cadre convivial. Jonathan Durand-Folco, professeur à l’École d’innovation sociale, est l’animateur pour le brunch.
Le guide:
Michel Prévost connaît ce quartier depuis son enfance. Il a beaucoup fréquenté ce secteur lorsqu’il était aux Archives de l’Université d’Ottawa de 1985 à 2017. Michel Prévost est par ailleurs très attaché à l’Université Saint-Paul qui lui a remis en 2015 un doctorat honorifique pour son engagement dans le domaine du patrimoine. Il fera pour la deuxième année une visite guidée de ce secteur, autrefois très francophone.

This Jane’s walk is a unique opportunity to discover the rich cultural heritage of the Saint Paul University area. This guided tour is co-organized by Janes Walk and the Elisatbeth-Bruyère School of Social Innovation. A light lunch will be served after the walk in the Mauril Bélanger Social Innovation Workshop, located inside the University and accessible via 95 Clegg Street. The guided tour will be in French, but whisper translation will be available.

The Guide:
Michel Prévost knows the neighbourhood since his childhood days. He spent a lot of time in it while being at the Ottawa University Archives form 1985 to 2017. Michel Prévost is very attached to Saint Paul University which got him an honorary Ph.D for his involvement in the field of heritage. This would be the second year that he’ll offer a guided tour of the neighbourhood which once was very francophone.
